Crescendo of Chaos
There had been a disturbing amount of...chaos taking place lately. The outpost in the Tarax system had to be abandoned. When a group of Korn Berzerkers found the warp portal near the system and was their activities were noticed. A brilliant night raid was planned, but utterly fell apart. Apparently an Earthshaker blew apart Edea and the webway portal with her. Xhosha gave the command to retreat and abandon the Tarax system. The Jade Emperor severely punished him for that. Why he wasn't demoted and turned into a grotesque was beyond anyone, much to the disappointment of the Haemonculi. The Jade Emperor was pissed, and he was going to take it out on someone, preferably someone chaotic. There was word that the inhabitants on planet Larn were devastated by...plague. His mighty omnipotence sent an army to Larn in order to cleanse this plague, and awaited results.
J.E.: Report.
Edea: My unit advanced right away and took fire. You know how we do. Throughout the battle, the 'curse of the lance' was in full effect.
J.E.: The what?
Edea: The 'curse of the lance'. The cult of Misery seems to think that there has been a curse placed upon the Liquid Sword because of the Avatar that we captured alive. That is why our 'lancers and blasters have been so ineffective in our campaigns. It explains their fanatical devotion to Peet as of late.
Basia: <interrupting> and with that in mind, if before each battle we could give a brief sermon and prayer to Peet--
Osiris: You have got to be f*cking kidding me.
J.E.: Actually if we put the right spin on this...propaganda it can work to our advantage. We could use the Cult of Misery as our central intelligence agency. They will not only gather information, but spread misinformation, intrigue, truth, and lies. What better way to place the proverbial chains on our opponents minds than through religion? The Cult of Misery is too small for battle right now anyway, and I haven't given them permission to expand yet, I have other recruitments in process. But they will grow in due time without my direct intervention as long as the Liquid Sword has their back, of that I'm sure. Our 'devotion' to Peet will guarantee us victory, especially since we are working the kinks out of our vehicle upgrades, but our lancers must be 'whipped' into shape. Flogged into shape if necessary. As far as lancers, blasters, and raiders are concerned, I want their rewards to be absurdly generous and their punishments to be horrifically severe. <the Haemonculi smile> Now, continue the report.
Edea: The armies of Chaos are so...chaotic. One of Nurgle's Raptors killed himself with his own plasma gun. The crudity and inferiority of our competitors is astounding. They were clumsy as well as slow. Nevertheless, our Raider missed its target. I truly don't understand what is going on with the raider squad. An obscure group called Nurgle's Fist retaliated, and the Raptors assaulted an Eldar who died hard and died well. Around this time, I let off the webway portal. And the Scourges touched down on the Plague Marines' flank.
Shaka: Immediately upon touching down, I spread out the unit to avoid being outflanked, particularly to the north. The horns sped over the lake, one of them tried to hide underwater and drowned awaiting further orders. Damn combat drugs, I don't know sometimes...I received reports that the terrorfex was ineffective. Many shots were fired between the Plague Marines and the Leopard Squad, but our casualties were minimal. Meanwhile, the Cobalt Knights destroyed Nurgle's Fist. It would appear that the so called 'curse' wasn't totally effective. Nevertheless, I like the the idea of the reward/punishment symmetry in terms of troops employing heavy weaponry. Our raider missed their land raider, and things were getting ugly and Nurgle's marines just wouldn't fall. I personally saw Osiris tear apart a raptor. Nebula was unsuccessful in her assault and was cut down. Boy does she go hard. How's her progress?
Imhotep: She'll be fine.
Osiris: Of course she's on point, she's a Harlequin. I gave the 'kiss to some marines, but the grotesques literally ate them alive. Those things are disturbing as hell. <the Haemonculi smile>
Shaka: To conclude, I'll say that the battle was more or less a draw. Their Exalted Champion, later identified as Festivon, fell upon my unit but failed to do any real damage. Balor is no more. Sundiata missed again with the terrorfex as did Mali; I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth using.
J.E.: Okay, well as long as we crippled them and slowed them down. Let us all move on.
All in attendance (except for Osiris): To hear is to obey.
